Dame Alicia Markova (1 December 1910 – 2 December 2004) was an English prima ballerina.
She was natural Lillian Alicia Marks to easily-off parents in the Finsbury Park district of London. At a age of eight, Marks lean ballet lessons to correct supposed problems using her legs & feet. She was presently spotted by Russian impresario Sergei Diaghilev, who wanted her to dance within his Ballets Russes. Marks joined Diaghilev within Monte Carlo at the age of Xiv, & toured everthing across Europe. Charted a demise of Diaghilev inside 1929, Markova returned to England where she helped launch A Ballet Club (late Ballet Rambert), the Vic Wells Ballet (which ultimately became a Royal Ballet) and a Markova-Dolin Ballet (with Anton Dolin).
